Please click the button below and enter your postal code below to find the best shipping container prices for your location. We offer ground level delivery within 150-200 miles of each of the cities we service, or customers are welcome to send their own truck to pick-up the container at the intermodal depot at no additional charge.
We offer steel storage container rentals nationwide, starting at $139/mo (3/mo. minimum, month to month thereafter). Delivered in 2-5 business days, our portable storage containers include a secure lockbox.
Even though 99% of our customers never need their warranty, every shipping container we sell is guaranteed with our 3 year structural warranty (please note, warranty does not cover cosmetic condition).
Used shipping containers come in a wide variety of conditions. The most common are One Trip, Cargo Worthy (CWO), and Wind & Water Tight (WWT). There are also "As Is" Containers, which we do not sell because they are usually damaged, and thus cannot be guaranteed. As well as containers repaired to IICL (Institute of International Container Lessors) standards.
While we don't offer IICL containers as an option, we do sometimes sell IICL condition containers. Our experience has been that containers repaired to IICL standards are in excellent structural condition, but don't look cosmetically different than CWO or WWT containers (and, due to dents often being patched/welded instead of simply pounded out, IICL containers can sometimes look less visually appealing than their wind and water tight or cargo worthy counterparts.
Please Note: All used containers will have rust/dents. Make sure to check out the sample photos prior to making your purchase. No matter the grade, every container we sell is guaranteed to be structurally sound, and comes with our one year warranty.
The combined volume of the Port of Seattle and Port of Tacoma makes Seattle the fifth largest shipping container port city by volume in the United States, and the 2nd largest port area on the West Coast. Intermodal depots are scattered between the Port of Seattle and Port of Tacoma, and we're able to have your truck loaded if you choose to pick up your own container. Unfortunately we won't know specifically which holding yard your container will come out of until we have complete release information.
We offer used shipping containers for sale in Seattle, Tacoma, and throughout the greater SeaTac area. If you'd like us to deliver your container, we offer ground level delivery on shipping containers within 200 miles of Seattle. We also offer conex container rentals within 75 miles of Seattle.
You can find the internal and external shipping container dimensions for every size container we sell on this page. There's also more information about shipping containers, for instance what's listed on intermodal shipping container doors is standardized so that the container can be handled at any port in the world. From the manufacturer information on the CSC plate, to the size & capacity information, to the container identification number, everything is standardized on a shipping container. Furthermore, to ensure the same equipment can safely handle the containers anywhere in the world, shipping containers are held to a very specific set of specifications and dimensions.
Primarily that PODS' containers are smaller, lighter units that are made from a combination of steel, fiberglass, aluminum and plastic, and designed to be moved while loaded. In contrast, our rentals are re-purposed used shipping containers
(all steel construction, with wood floors over steel cross members).Overall, steel shipping containers are a larger and heavy duty alternative to the standard PODS storage containers. PODS now offers a an all-steel 16 ft container.
While Western Container Sales offers steel storage containers in sizes up to 40' in length, PODS offers smaller, 8', 12' and 16' storage units with aluminum and plastic exteriors, in addition to a 16' all-steel container option. Steel shipping containers are difficult to load/unload without the heavy equipment found at ports and depots, but PODS units are small enough to be easily managed with light duty lifts. Western Container Sales does not move loaded units, so if you need your container moved after it's loaded PODS or similar companies might be a better option. However, if you need storage at your location we offer larger, all steel containers. Our cost per square foot is almost always lower, as well.
We work with local haulers that have roll-off trailers to coordinate your delivery. Because of the specialized nature of the equipment needed to offer ground level delivery of a shipping container, the hauler isn't usually able to find a backhaul. Because of that, the driver needs to be able to get out and back within their logbook hours, and this means we're not able to offer delivery beyond 150 miles for sales and 75 miles for rentals.
There are a few things to consider before you order a container, the most important is to be ready for delivery. We deliver containers on a roll-off trailer, so you won't need a forklift or a crane to unload at delivery, but you'll need to make sure you've got enough space for delivery and that your site is ready for the truck.
We know what a hassle it can be to call for a shipping container quote, as well as how annoying it can be to fill out a form on what appears to be a conex container rental site and consequently be bombarded with salespeople from third party companies because your information was sold as a lead. Unlike the big guys, we offer shipping containers for sale online with prices posted on our website. Why do we do this when other companies won't? Simple, we know our prices are fair, and well below what you'd see with our large corporate competitors.
Western Container Sales will get you a fair price for a used shipping container sourced directly from global intermodal equipment providers, pulled from their inventories at your nearest intermodal depot. Because the containers were recently moving cargo, we know they won't leak and we guarantee it. Check out our current shipping container prices (please note they do change with inventory levels). We also make renting steel storage containers just as easy, with our online rental order form.
Unfortunately intermodal depots are busy places and most of the containers stacked up are being used for cargo. When you buy a used shipping container from our company, we act as a broker and source a container directly from global intermodal equipment providers.
For used containers we are unable to allow the customer to request their color, however we can offer beige and grey color options for One Trip containers. If you're ordering multiple units, we can usually guarantee matching units (upon request, based on availability).
Exporting a container is far more complex than buying one. We highly recommend all customers who need to use their container for export work with a freight forwarder first... and then reach out to us to buy the container about a week or two before you plan to pick it up.
We also recommend that your freight forwarder coordinate all of the trucking. Because we offer ground level delivery, and can't move loaded containers, you'll likely need a crane to load your container onto the chassis when the truck comes to pick it up. A simpler option is to work with your freight forwarder to arrange a hauler to drop the container on a chassis so you won't need a crane to load it onto the trailer later.
Because the containers are stacked at the intermodal depot, we cannot obtain photos or guarantee a specific unit. The depots are storing empty shipping containers for shipping lines and intermodal equipment providers. When we place an order for our customers, they pick the next container off the stack that meets their criteria.
The shipping containers we sell come directly from the intermodal depot, and because depots are so busy they don't have the ability to let customers select from a wide variety of container options. Additionally, not every container in the stack is for sale (over 95% of containers at depots are not available for sale and are still being used for cargo).
Unfortunately, this means that we're unable to allow customers to pick a specific container. We do guarantee every container we sell, and do our best to set realistic expectations as to what your container might look like.
Intermodal depots are extremely busy places, and 95%+ of container traffic at depots is cargo related. Unless you have specific business to attend to at the depot, they don't want you there. Trucking yards make for poor shopping malls, and depots aren't set up to cater to individual shipping container buyers.
We won't know what depot your container is coming out of until we get release information, and most depots won't let you into the yard unless you have a release, so we don't recommend going to the depot unless you're handling your own pick-up.
For individuals, we've partnered with Bread to offer shipping container financing at rates as low as 0%. Select bread as your payment option at checkout and you'll be redirected to their website to complete your purchase.
For businesses we've partnered with CIT to offer container financing options to companies that would prefer to pay for their shipping container purchase over time. You can complete CIT's business credit application here.
It's not uncommon for a container to have a lingering odor, and it can usually be resolved by opening the doors and letting it air out (industrial strength odor neutralizers also help, and can be purchased at most hardware stores).
That depends on where you take delivery. Western Container Sales primarily acts as a broker, helping customers buy shipping containers from international logistics providers with equipment in local intermodal depots. At this time we charge sales tax in about half of the markets we service, however that can change at any time. 781b155fdc
